Chair

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
– Isaiah 40:31

Travis holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Information Processing/Computer Programming. He is a Year 8 Graduate of Partners and Policymaking and has previously served on the Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (PADD) Advisory Board to South Dakota Advocacy Services (now DRSD). Some of his accomplishments include being a Ten Outstanding Young South Dakotans (TOYSD) Recipient in 2002 and a Governor’s Award Recipient in 2007.

For his entire adult life, Travis has strived to empower and protect the rights of others. For example, his main business is helping people protect their legal rights and identity through a company called LegalShield. He has served on several boards and committees including the SD Jaycees, SD Council on Developmental Disabilities, Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) to the Center for Disabilities, People Leading Accessible Networks of Support (PLANS) Committee, Sioux Falls Mayor’s Disability Awareness Commission, and the Prairie Freedom Center for Independent Living (PFC) Board (now known as Independent Living Choices). He says, “No matter what board I have served on, I want what is best for the individuals that it serves using the resources we have available to achieve the best possible outcome.”

Travis has four children: Grace - 23, Elizabeth – 11, AJ – 7, and LeRoy – 2. He also has a 13-year-old Shih-tzu dog named Pinky. In his free time, Travis enjoys camping, taking walks, looking at sculptures, playing mind games, and watching tv and movies. Something interesting about Travis is that he has gone skydiving, bungee jumping, rip cording, and everything in between.
