"It is amazing what you can accomplish when you don't care who gets the credit."
–Harry Truman

Tamara holds a B.S. in Human Development: Child and Family Studies, a M.S in Counseling, Agency Track, and an Ed.D. in Education Administration, Adult and Higher Education. Some of her accomplishments include being named a Gates Millennium Scholar and a South Dakota State University Native American Distinguished Alumni in 2011.

Tamara joined DRSD as a Board Member in 2017. She likes being a board member because she enjoys helping others and making a difference in people’s lives. She says, “advocating for change is challenging and at the same time very fulfilling. The work I do as a board member is rewarding, advocating for inclusivity and equal treatment and respect for individuals with different abilities. It has been an honor to serve on the DRSD Board.”

Tamara is married and has six children. Her older children are out of the house with children of their own, but she has one son, a junior, still at home. Tamara also has three dogs: Rocky (Lab), Chief, and Jake (German Shepherds). In her free time, Tamara enjoys spending time with her family. She spends a lot of time in gymnasiums watching her youngest play basketball, and her favorite tv show is Hawaii Five-0. She loves getting up early, enjoying a good cup of coffee, and taking in the calm before the daily rush! Something interesting about Tamara is that she is an enrolled member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate.
